Man beaten after leaving Wal-Mart 6/16/2009 6:54:07 AM
The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a case in which a man was robbed and beaten by four men early Monday morning after leaving Wal-Mart on U.S. 70. According to police reports, Baxter Bradley left Wal-Mart at about 1:20 a.m. and saw a gold Taurus follow him, He made a few turns, and the car continued to follow him at the intersection of Sandy Ridge Road and Robinson Road. When he got onto Robinson Road, Bradley backed up, and went down a driveway trying to get away from the car, but his car stalled. A black male with camouflage pants and dreadlocks reportedly yanked him from the car, and all four men started hitting and kicking him. The men then took Bradley’s wallet and left. The Sheriff’s Office says Bradley did not know the men, and didn't know why they picked him as a target. All four of the men were black. Bradley didn't get a good look at all of the men, but said one of them wore a white T-shirt and sunglasses. Bradley was taken to the hospital for injuries to his head. Reid encouraged anyone who thinks they're being followed to go to a business or the sheriff's office, and to call 911. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the sheriff's office at 464-5241.
