Arrests made in Alexander County burlaries 1/24/2009 7:54:41 AM
Alexander County deputies worked quickly yesterday to apprehend three alleged burglars after several homes in western Alexander County were entered yesterday afternoon.
The first calls reported the theft on several guns, bows, and hunting weapons from a home in Bethlehem where the owner had confronted two strange men in a silver Honda in his driveway, and had broken a window in the Honda as the men fled. The tag number of the Honda was reported, and officers arrested 21-year-old Joseph Swanson of Hickory was jailed with bond set at 20-thousand dollars.
Other incidents in the Houck Mountain Road area resulted in two more arrests after a victim found a vehicle in her driveway when she returned home yesterday.
Arrested was 27-year-old Jesse Wayne Waddell of Hickory, whose bond was set at 28-thousand dollars. Arrested later, hiding in a creek in the Houck Mountain neighborhood was a homeless man, 30-Thomas Edward Ball. His bond was set at 25-thousand dollars.
