Tennessee Man to Served More than 30 Years for Sex Offenses 10/21/2013 3:36:33 PM
48-year-old Mat Dallas Pierce of Butler, Tennessee was convicted Friday (October 18) in Burke Co. Superior Court on six felony sex offense charges. The jury returned its unanimous verdict Friday afternoon after a four-day trial.
Pierce was sentenced to a minimum of 386 months and maximum of 473 months, or approximately 32 to 39.5 years, in prison. He would be nearly 88 years old when released, if he serves a full sentence.
Pierce was convicted of two counts for the rape of a child, one count of first-degree sex offense and three counts of indecent liberties with a child. The female victims were nine and ten years old when the offenses occurred in 2009 and 2010.
Sgt. David Stikeleather of the Burke Co. Sheriff’s Office and Detective Shelly Hartley of the Caldwell Co. Sheriff’s Office handled the investigation. Assistant District Attorney Eric Bellas prosecuted the case with the Honorable Superior Court Judge Tom Edwards presiding.
