Authorities Search for Missing Fisherman Near Lookout Dam 7/24/2013 3:28:22 PM
The Catawba Co. Sheriff’s Office and others are searching for a missing person near Lookout Dam. He is 30-year-old Zoua Pa Chang of Claremont.
According to Sheriff Coy Reid, Mr. Chang and a friend were fishing below the dam at about 6:30 p.m. yesterday when Chang went off on his own. The friend said the two weren’t catching anything, so he gave up at about 8:30 and went to look for Chang. When the friend was unable to locate him, he called other friends and family who continued the search.
They called 9-1-1 at about 10 p.m. Search crews arrived and continued to search without success until after midnight. They resumed the search at about 8 a.m. today and were back on the scene at about 2:30 this afternoon. As of 3:30 p.m. today, search crews were still looking for Mr. Chang.
Foul play is not suspected. At this point, Mr. Chang is still considered a missing person.
