No Arrest Yet in Saturday Homicide in Hickory 7/15/2013 3:57:31 PM
Hickory Police are investigating a homicide that took the life of 34-year-old Damion Sentiel Odom early Saturday morning (July 13).
Police say approximately eight shots were fired from outside a residence at 1022 19th Street N.E. in Hickory at approximately 5 a.m. Saturday. While the official cause of death has not been released, Police say it appears Mr. Odom was struck and killed by a single gunshot.
29-year-old Gevon Marquise King, who lives at the residence, and a girlfriend were present at the time of the shooting. They were not injured.
In the course of the investigation, drugs were found at the residence leading to charges against King for felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule II controlled substance, felony maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
King was jailed in the Catawba Co. Detention Facility under a $21,000 secured bond with a first court appearance set for today (July 15) in Newton.
The investigation into Mr. Odomís death is ongoing. As of 3:30 this afternoon, Police had not yet identified a suspect.
