L-R women fall to 2nd ranked West Chester in lacrosse
3/19/2013 5:56:18 PM

The West Chester Women's Lacrosse Team (3-0), ranked No. 2 in NCAA Division II, defeated Lenoir-Rhyne (3-4), 20-8, Tuesday afternoon at Moretz Stadium.

The Golden Rams' Tori Dugan (West Chester, Pa.) and Nicole Pyle (West Chester, Pa.) each scored four times as West Chester remained unbeaten on the season.

L-R senior Sarah Minick (Marietta, Ga.) and sophomore Mary Minick (Marietta, Ga.) both scored twice but the Bears suffered their third straight setback.

The Golden Rams raced to a 10-1 advantage and led at halftime by a 13-4 score.

West Chester, who lost in the national championship match last season, put an end to any hopes of a Lenoir-Rhyne comeback with six consecutive goals to start the second half.

Dugan also assisted on two scores while the Golden Rams' Jess Henderson (West Chester, Pa.) earned the win in goal after tallying five saves in the contest.

L-R sophomore goalkeeper Allison Senft (Marietta, Ga.) suffered the setback despite stopping five shots on the afternoon.

West Chester held the advantage in shots taken (41-25) while Lenoir-Rhyne held the edge in ground balls by a 34-25 count in the losing effort.

Lenoir-Rhyne remains at home to face Indiana (Pa.) on Friday afternoon beginning at 4:00 p.m., at Moretz Stadium.
