Two Charged in Attempted Vehicle Break-Ins 10/1/2012 3:38:54 PM
23-year-old Asante Bashar Avan Wright of 2nd Avenue N.W. and 25-year-old Ashley Renee Roman of 13th Street S.E., both from Hickory, were arrested by Hickory Police early Friday morning (September 28). They were both charged with injuring or tampering with a motor vehicle.
Their arrests came about when several citizens saw a number of subjects pulling on car door handles between 3 and 4 a.m. on the 200 block of 18th Avenue S.E. Witnesses chased the suspects away and got a tag number for one vehicle as it sped away.
Police spotted the vehicle a short time later and brought Wright and Roman in front of the witnesses, who identified the two. Police are investigating the possibility that they may have been involved in several other break-ins on 25th Avenue N.W. and 26th Avenue N.E.
Both suspects were processed at H.P.D. and then taken to the Catawba Co. Detention Facility with bond for each set at $500, secured. They were both scheduled to make first appearances in District Court on November 8 in Hickory.
