Man Killed by Train in Morganton 7/11/2012 6:54:14 AM
According to published reports, a man lying on the train tracks in Morganton was killed Monday (July 9) after he was hit by a train.
Just past 9 p.m. Monday, the Morganton Department of Public Safety responded to the railroad tracks near Church Street and Hogan Street where a westbound Norfolk Southern train hit a man lying on the tracks. The trainís conductor, said the man was lying on the tracks and appeared unresponsive as the train approached.
The victim is described as a 26-year-old Hispanic male with short black hair.
An investigation is ongoing. MDPS was joined at the scene by Burke County E.M.S. and the Burke County Rescue Squad.
