Mountain City Man Arrested in Watauga for Meth Precursor Chemicals 2/5/2010 8:34:05 AM
William Wayne Carpenter of Mountain City, Tennessee was arrested by Detectives from the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit on Tuesday, February 2nd on a charge of possession of methamphetamine precursor chemicals.
Detectives received information that the suspect was purchasing items to manufacture methamphetamine at different pharmacies. Detectives located Carpenter and stopped his vehicle. During the investigation, officers found evidence of purchases of iodine and pseudoephedrine products from different pharmacies inside the vehicle. Detectives also found evidence that Carpenter buys quantities of pseudoephedrine products at different pharmacies throughout the area.
Carpenter was arrested and placed in the Watauga County Detention Center under a $12,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 11th. The investigation is ongoing and further arrests are expected.
