39-year-old Bryan Jeremy Sheperd of County Home Road in Conover was arrested Thursday (July 25) by Catawba County Sheriff's Officers. He's charged with felony probation violation. The warrant is from 2014. Sheperd was detained in the Catawba County Detention Facility under no bond. A Superior Court appearance was scheduled Thursday.
18-year-old Matthew Arthur Decker of Greenhill Lane in Mooresville was arrested by Iredell Co. Sheriff's Officers early this morning (July 25) on felony counts of possession with intent to sell or deliver a synthetic cannabinoid, possession of a synthetic cannabinoid, and maintaining a vehicle to sell a controlled substance. He was also charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
He was arrested as Deputies conducted a driver’s license check in the area of Brawley School Road at Chuckwood Road. A silver Chevy Tahoe driven by Matthew Decker was in the vehicle line. As Decker handed a Deputy his license, the Deputy saw a homemade marijuana pipe in plain view.
Decker’s vehicle was searched. Deputies found marijuana in the vehicle's center console. They also found 35 T.H.C. vape capsules in the vehicle.
Decker was arrested on the scene. He was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond. No court date is currently listed.
22-year-old Julius Japri Barnett of 1st Street S.W. in Hickory was arrested by Hickory Police early this morning (July 25) on a felony warrant as a fugitive awaiting extradition to another state. Barnett is wanted by the Battle Creek Police Department in Calhoun County, Michigan for assault with intent to do great bodily harm.
Barnett was taken into custody without incident at an address on South Center Street in Hickory. He was placed in the Catawba Co. Detention Facility with bond set at $50,000, secured. An appearance in District Court was scheduled today in Newton.
38-year-old Elizabeth Kathleen Byrd of 18th Avenue N.E. in Hickory was arrested by Hickory Police at nine o'clock last night (July 24) on one felony count of possession of a schedule II controlled substance.
She was initially arrested in connection to a traffic stop on November 12 of last year. Police found 0.3 grams of methamphetamine during the incident. Byrd was taken into custody on the same date.
She was arrested yesterday without incident at the intersection of 16th Street N.E. and 14th Avenue N.E. in Hickory. Byrd was processed at the Hickory Police Department and then released under a $5,000 unsecured bond. An appearance in Superior Court was scheduled today in Newton.
21-year-old Dylan Michael Carroll of Crystal Street in Claremont was arrested by Catawba County Sheriff's Officers. He's charged on bills of indictment with felony counts of possession of a firearm by a felon and obstructing justice along with a misdemeanor count of false report to a police station. Carroll is also charged with misdemeanor resisting a public officer. He was jailed this morning (July 25) in the Catawba County Detention Facility under $13,800 bond. A Superior Court appearance is scheduled for Friday (July 26) and a District Court date is set for next Monday (July 29).
33-year-old Alicia Renee Stewart of Shad Lane in Catawba was arrested Wednesday (July 24) by Newton Police Officers. She's charged with felony possession of schedule I controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of schedule IV controlled substance. Stewart was detained in the Catawba County Detention Facility under $2,500 bond. A District Court appearance was scheduled today.
31-year-old Ashley Dawn Ramsey of St. Paul's Church Road in Morganton and 31-year-old Jamie Denise Riddle of Vein Mountain Road in Nebo were arrested Monday (July 22) by McDowell County Sheriff's Officers. They're each charged with felony counts of trafficking in methamphetamine and conspiracy to traffic in methampetamine. Riddle is additionally charged with possession with intent to manufacture sell and deliver heroin and schedule II controlled substance.
As part of an ongoing investigation into the possible location of a federal fugitive, investigators with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office and Marion Police Department were conducting surveillance Monday afternoon at America’s Best Value Inn, on U.S. 221 South.
Simultaneously, at 2:43 p.m. on Old U.S. 221 South, Deputy Steven McPeters of the Sheriff’s Office stopped a black Ford truck and Cpl. Jerry Lewis of Marion Police Department stopped a blue Honda Civic that left the motel together. Federal indictments were served on the driver of the Ford truck.
Investigators and Sheriff’s Office K-9 Kessy searched the Honda Civic, which authorities say was owned by Jamie Riddle and driven at the time by Ashley Ramsey. The search reportedly resulted in the discovery of 1,188 grams of methamphetamine and 950 grams of a substance believed to be heroin.
The hotel room was also searched and authorities say they found another 50 grams of methamphetamine and 2.7 grams of suspected heroin. All told more than 2.7 pounds of meth and more than 2.1 pounds of the substance believed to be heroin were seized. Bond for Ramsey was set at $175,000, Riddle received a $200,000 bond. They both have District Court appearances in Marion August 14.
40-year-old William Ray Blackburn of 1st Avenue NW in Hickory was arrested Wednesday (July 24) by Caldwell County Sheriff's Officers. He's charged with felony possession of stolen property. Blackburn was released on $5,000 secured bond. A District Court date was scheduled today (July 25).
22-year-old Isaiah Monty Simmons of Timberwood Drive in Lenoir was arrested Tuesday (July 23) by Caldwell County Sheriff's Officers. He's charged with electronic house arrest violation. Simmons was brought to the Caldwell County Detention Center where bond was set at $40,000 secured. A District Court appearance is scheduled for October 7.
50-year-old Jesse Lynn Ethridge of Crystal Creek Road in Morganton was arrested by Burke County Sheriff's Officers. He's charged with felony counts of larceny and second-degree burglary along with a misdemeanor count of driving while license revoked.
According to information released Wednesday (July 24), on July 17, 2019, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office responded to 4777 Jenkins Road in Morganton, in reference to a break-in and larceny from a construction site. A large amount of construction materials and tools were stolen with a value in excess of $3,000.
The investigation conducted by the Burke County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation and Narcotic Divisions resulted in Jesse Lynn Ethridge being developed as a suspect. Ethridge was arrested and all of the stolen items were recovered and returned to their owners.
Following his arrest, Ethridge was confined at the Burke-Catawba District Confinement Facility under $30,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (July 25). A first appearance in District Court is scheduled for August 12. Additional charges may be filed against Ethridge.

51-year-old Ronnie D. Stines is on parole following a December 2017 conviction in Caldwell County for attempted obtaining property by false pretense. He is a white male, 5'11" tall, weighing 171 pounds. Stines has blonde hair and blue eyes.
25-year-old Paul Lee Biggs III is on probation as he serves a 18-month suspended sentence following an October 2017 conviction in Avery County for D.W.I. Level Five. Biggs is a white male. He is 6'0" tall, weighing 152 pounds. He has blonde hair and blue eyes.
46-year-old Molly Kathleen Thomas is on probation following a September 2018 conviction in Avery County for harboring an escapee and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is a white female. Thomas is 5'9" tall and weighs 134 pounds. She has brown hair and green eyes.
Also wanted are 31-year-old Nicholas Chad Dugger and 46-year-old Julie R. Riddle. It's not clear which charges landed them on probation or parole. Dugger is a white male, 6'1" tall, weighing 205 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. Riddle is a white female. She is 5'5" tall and weighs 145 pounds. Riddle has brown hair and brown eyes.

26-year-old David Enoch McClellan of Rhodhiss Road in Connelly Springs was arrested by Hickory Police early this morning (July 24) on multiple counts of failure to appear, including one felony count for failure to appear on a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He also allegedly failed to appear in court for D.W.I. (twice), simple possession of a schedule IV controlled substance (twice), assault on a female, communicating threats, and interfering with emergency communications.
McClellan was taken into custody without incident at 12:52 a.m. today at a fast-food restaurant on Highway 70 S.E. in Hickory. He was jailed in the Catawba Co. Detention Facility under a $20,000 secured bond. District Court dates were set for August 15, September 4, and September 9.
Shortly before 1:00 a.m. today (July 24), Hickory firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire at 345 3rd Street SE. Firefighters responded with three engines, one ladder, one rescue truck, and two command units. Catawba County EMS also responded to the incident.
On arrival at 1:00 am, firefighters reported the house fully engulfed in fire and flames coming from the roof of the house. Firefighters worked to contain the fire and to protect surrounding structures. Since the house was being remodeled, no one was living there at the time.
No injuries were reported and fire damages were considered heavy. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
34-year-old Dustin Kyle Smith of Sullivan Avenue in Hudson was arrested Monday (July 22) by Lenoir Police Officers. He's charged with felony obtaining property by false pretense. Smith was released on $3,000 secured bond A District Court appearance was scheduled today (July 24).
33-year-old Travis Ray Andrews of Robbins Avenue in Lenoir was arrested last Saturday (July 20) by Lenoir Police Officers. He's charged with felony possession of a stolen firearm. Andrews was released on $5,000 secured bond. He was scheduled to appear in District Court Monday (July 22). No upcoming court dates were listed.
New names have been added to the Iredell County most wanted list.
32-year-old April Elaine Cape was recently added to the list of suspects wanted in Iredell County. She's charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny, and as a probation absconder. Cape's last known address was 516 Harris Bridge Road in Stony Point.
19-year-old Keaundre Parks was also recently added to the Iredell County most wanted list. He's charged with habitual assault and probation violation. The last known address for Parks is 2304 Wexford Way in Statesville.
28-year-old Bryant Graves remains on the Iredell County most wanted list. He's charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance and felony sale of schedule II controlled substance. Graves' last known address was 529 Cranfill Road in Harmony.

26-year-old Chelsea Nicholle Martin of Valdese Avenue in Drexel, 45-year-old Terry Allan Griffin of Griffin Avenue NW in Valdese, and 39-year-old William Bryan Harrell of Seminary, Mississippi, were all arrested by Burke County Sheriff's Officers. Martin is charged with felony trafficking methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Griffin is charged with felony maintaining a vehicle, dwelling, or place for a controlled substance. Harrell is charged with felony possession of methamphetamine.
According to information released Tuesday (July 23), on July 15, 2019, officers with the Valdese Police Department, Burke County Sheriff’s Office, and NC Probation and Parole officers initiated an investigation at an address on Griffin Avenue NW in Valdese. There were approximately 10 people detained at the residence after officers arrived. Suspected controlled substances were found and seized from multiple locations throughout the residence. Burke County Narcotics Detectives were called to the scene and Martin, Griffin, and Harrell were arrested.
All three suspects were taken to the Burke-Catawba District Confinement Facility. Martin's bond was set at $25,000 secured, Griffin and Harrell were jailed under $10,000 secured bond apiece. Griffin and Harrell remained in jail as of earlier today (July 24), Martin was no longer listed as an inmate. All three suspects have District Court dates August 7.
30-year-old Jessica Dawn Wright of Conover Boulevard West in Conover was arrested by Catawba County Sheriff's Officers. She's charged with possession of a stolen firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia. Wright was placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility this morning (July 24) under $1,000 bond. A District Court appearance is scheduled Thursday (July 25).
36-year-old Kristopher Keith Childers of Morganton, was sentenced to an active prison term of eight to ten years following his conviction and admission of habitual felon status in Burke County Superior Court last week.
The Honorable Robert C. Ervin, Superior Court Judge from Burke County, imposed the prison term for Childers after he pleaded guilty to felony larceny, two counts of larceny of a motor vehicle and flee to elude arrest.
Childers’ sentence length was enhanced by prior felony convictions for breaking and entering (2003), possession of stolen goods (2006) and discharging a weapon into occupied premises (2011), all in Burke County.
The offenses occurred between September and November 2018. During that time, Childers stole two vehicles, a John Deere UTV and fled from officers pursuant to one of their stops.
The cases were investigated by the Burke County Sheriff’s Office and Morganton Department of Public Safety. Assistant District Attorney Michelle Lippert handled prosecution for the State.
31-year-old Kevin Matthew Cook of Stonewall Street in Lenoir was arrested Saturday (July 20) by Lenoir Police Officers. He's charged with felony possession of methamphetamine. Cook was released after posting $5,000 secured bond. A District Court appearance was scheduled Monday (July 22).
