45-year-old Dara Lynn Miller of Dudley Shoals Road in Granite Falls was arrested by Caldwell County Sheriff’s Officers yesterday (May 7) on one felony count of discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. Miller was placed in the Caldwell County Detention Center and has since been released with bond set at $7,500, secured. A District Court appearance was scheduled today.
44-year-old Leo Bellamy, Jr. of 4th Street N.W. in Hickory was arrested by Hickory Police just before four o'clock yesterday afternoon on one felony count of breaking & entering. He was arrested in connection to a break-in yesterday at a residence on 4th Street Drive N.W. in Hickory.
Bellamy was taken into custody without incident at the scene. He was processed at the Hickory Police Department and later released under an $8,000 unsecured bond. A first appearance in District Court was scheduled today in Newton.
34-year-old Andy James Smith of 37th Street S.W. in Hickory was arrested by Hickory Police early this morning (May 8) on one felony count of failure to appear. The warrant for his arrest was issued on May 6 in Burke County.
Smith was taken into custody without incident at about 12:50 a.m. today on the 1,200 block of Highway 70 S.W. in Hickory. He was taken to the Catawba Co. Detention Facility under a $30,000 secured bond. Smith was not listed as an inmate in either Catawba County or Burke County as of late this morning. He was scheduled to appear in Superior Court on June 10 in Morganton.
38-year-old Winter Ruth Wells of Prospect Street in Lenoir was arrested yesterday (May 7) by Lenoir Police Officers on one felony count of possession of methamphetamine. She’s also charged with single misdemeanors counts of larceny and possession of stolen property. Wells was taken to the Caldwell County Detention Center and has since been released under a $10,000 secured bond. A District Court appearance was scheduled today.
40-year-old Shmarcus Romarian Blanding was arrested Sunday (May 5) by authorities in Lincoln County. He's charged with two felony counts of probation violation along with single felony counts of breaking and entering to a building, obtaining property by false pretense, and failure to appear. Blanding is also charged with two misdemeanor counts of failure to appear.
He was arrested at the Cabarrus County Jail at 1 p.m. Sunday and brought to Lincolnton where he was incarcerated under $46,000 secured bond. A District Court appearance is scheduled for May 23.
34-year-old Brent Shaun Heavner was arrested today (May 8) by authorities in Lincoln County. He's charged with felony obtaining property by false pretenses and two misdemeanor counts of resist, delay, and obstruct a public officer. Heavner was arrested shortly after 2:30 a.m. today at an address on NC 27 in Lincolnton and placed in jail under $7,000 secured bond. A District Court date was scheduled today.
20-year-old Samuel Lee Keller was arrested Tuesday (May 7) by authorities in Burke County. He's charged with felony possession of stolen goods. Keller was arrested shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday and placed in jail in Morganton under $10,000 secured bond. A District Court appearance was scheduled today (May 8).
28-year-old Brent Nickolas Webb was arrested Monday (May 6) by authorities in Burke County. He's charged with felony possession of a weapon by a felon and misdemeanor larceny. Webb was arrested shortly after 11 a.m. Monday. He was placed in jail in Morganton where bond was set at $25,500 secured. A District Court appearance was scheduled today (May 8).
Hickory City Council met in regular session last night. Minutes and the reaffirmations and ratification of second readings were approved. The consent agenda was approved with the exception of one item which was removed for further review by the City’s Deputy Attorney.
Transportation Planning Manager John Marshall presented the agreement with the North Carolina Department of Transportation for $8,480,000 in federal grant funds. The money would be used to construct the Old Lenoir Road Multiuse Trail, which is part of the bond projects. It was unanimously approved. Assistant to the City Manager Yaidee Fox presented updates to the bond projects.
A proclamation was presented for National Police Week 2019. A proclamation was also presented to the Hickory Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau for Tourism Month, which runs through May 31. Mandy Pitts Hildebrand and Sarah Davis spoke about tourism and the work they do.
50-year-old Johnny Edward Foster of Cloudburst Circle in Lincolnton was arrested by Lincoln County Sheriff's Officers. He's charged with six felony counts of obtaining signatures by false pretenses and one count each of financial transaction card theft and larceny by employee.
Foster is charged with using his employer’s credit card to make unauthorized purchases. Lincoln Cleaning Service filed a report with the Sheriff’s Office last Thursday (May 2). The company official said the she was doing the payroll the previous day when she noticed ten transaction attempts on the company credit card. The credit card stays locked in a desk at the business but the victim believes someone was able to get the information from the card and use the information to make purchases.
The last time the card was used for official company business by an employee was on April 26. Deputies were provided a printout of the unauthorized transactions which shows ten attempts with the card and six of the attempts being approved. One attempt was still pending and three others were declined. All attempts to use the credit card were made during the early morning hours of April 28. The suspect was identified from a security camera photo from one of the businesses.
Foster was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond. A District Court appearance is scheduled for May 28.
27-year-old William Charles Church of 39th Street NW in Hickory was arrested Tuesday (May 7) by Probation and Parole Officers. He was charged with felony probation violation. Church was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under $50,000 bond. A Superior Court date is set for May 13.
24-year-old Kenneth DeLayne Forde of Fairgrove Lane in Charlotte was arrested Friday (May 3) by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with single felony counts of possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, and maintaining a dwelling or vehicle to sell a controlled substance.
Forde was arrested after Officers with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) Team conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Interstate 77 South for a traffic violation. After officers noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the car, a search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search, 96 grams of hydroponic marijuana and a Glock .40 caliber handgun were found inside a duffle bag that was hidden in the trunk. Officers then discovered that the handgun was stolen from Charlotte. Forde admitted to possessing the marijuana and the firearm. After further investigation, Officers learned that Forde had previously been convicted on felony charges from Charlotte.
Forde was jailed in the Iredell County Detention Center with bond set at $50,000, secured. A District Court appearance was scheduled for May 22.
22-year-old Theresa Marie Canipe of Temple Lane in Granite Falls was arrested by Caldwell County Sheriff’s Officers yesterday (May 6) on one felony count of possession of methamphetmine. Canipe was taken to the Caldwell County Detention Center and has since been released under a $5,000 secured bond. A District Court appearance was scheduled today.
25-year-old Aaron Daniel Moody of Rosedale Drive in Lenoir was arrested by Caldwell County Sheriff’s Officers yesterday (May 6). He’s charged with one felony count of possession of methamphetamine and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Moody was taken to the Caldwell County Detention and was given a custody release. He’s scheduled to appear in Superior Court on July 22.
