40 new COVID-19 cases were reported Saturday (July 11) by Catawba County Public Health, increasing the overall total in the county to 1,172, with 14 deaths. Coronavirus hospitalizations increased to 23, the highest number reported since the start of the pandemic. At least 516 COVID-19 patients had recovered and there were 3,786 negative test results.
30 additional coronavirus cases were reported Saturday in Burke County, increasing the overall total to 1,194, with 21 deaths. At least 911 patients had recovered from COVID-19 in Burke County, and there were eight people hospitalized with the coronavirus.
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services listed 156 cases overall in Alexander County, one more than the county's Friday report. The state agency listed Caldwell County with 601 cases, ten more than the county's update Friday. The 2,462 new cases reported statewide Saturday represents the highest one-day total during the pandemic.
