31-year-old Johnny Allen Wade and 27-year-old Ashley Dawn Palmer, both of Valdese, were arrested Saturday (June 27) by Catawba County Sheriff's Officers. Both suspects are charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver methamphetamine. Wade is additionally charged with simple possession of schedule II controlled substance and simple possession of schedule IV controlled Substance. Palmer is also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Saturday, shortly before 10:30 p.m. a patrol deputy with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office saw a passenger car traveling in the 3600 block of Hwy 70 SW whose tail lights were inoperative. The deputy stopped the vehicle in question near the 26th St SW intersection.
During this time officers located and seized 11 grams of methamphetamine, six opiate pills and a small amount of U.S. currency. Johnny Allen Wade and Ashley Dawn Palmer were identified as the driver and passenger of this vehicle.
Both suspects $22,000 secured bonds on the drug charges, they were both scheduled to appear in District Court Monday (June 29). Palmer was also served with outstanding warrants for failing to appear on charges related to a violation of Drug Recovery Court conditions and felony probation violation. Palmer received a $50,000 secured bond on the Drug Court Violation charge and $5,000 on the probation violation. Palmer’s first appearance for those two charges was scheduled today (June 30).
