39-year-old Carrie Medford McDaniel of South Railroad Street in Gastonia and 37-year-old Waylon Lee Wilson of Lowe Street in Mount Holly, were arrested Friday afternoon (January 10) by Lincoln County Sheriff's Officers. They're each charged wtih felony larceny of a firearm and felony possession of stolen goods. McDaniel is additionally charged with resist, delay, and obstruct a public officer.
According to information released Monday (January 13), the suspects are charged in connection with the theft of a Smith and Wesson .357 pistol. The victim told the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office that he suspected two individuals that he had allowed to live at his residence. He said he didn’t notice the pistol missing until they moved from his home on Hilltop Road.
A Detective reviewed video surveillance from hotels at which the two suspects had been living, but did not find the pistol. However, based on information obtained from the surveillance video, interviews were conducted with the suspects which led to their arrests.
Bond for McDaniel was set at $21,000 secured. Wilson received a $10,000 secured bond. They remained in jail as of earlier today (January 14). They're both scheduled to appear in District Court February 3.
