A Sunday night (January 12) armed robbery at a Catawba County convenience store is under investigation. At 7:56 p.m. Sunday, Catawba County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a robbery at the Lookout Market, which is a convenience store located at the corner of Oxford School Road and River Bend Road. When deputies arrived they learned that a person, whose face was obscured by a mask with a skeletal face imprinted on it, entered the store armed with a handgun and demanded money.
The suspect obtained a quantity of U S currency and fled on foot. A patron arriving at this store as the suspect was fleeing gave chase but was not able to apprehend them. Deputies utilized a K-9 in an effort to track this suspect but were unable to locate them.
This suspect is believed to be a man whose race and age are unknown at this time. The suspect has a medium build and appears to be between 5' 8" to 5'10". The suspect was wearing a tan hoodie style sweat shirt, camouflage pants and tennis shoes. The suspect was also wearing latex gloves which appeared to be blue.
