26-year-old Stephenson Eugene Clark of Section House Road and 25-year-old Brianna Dawn Perry of 14th Avenue S.W., both from Hickory, were arrested by Hickory Police early Saturday morning (January 11). Both suspects were charged with felony counts of possession of heroin, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, and possession of a stolen motor vehicle, plus one misdemeanor count each for possession of stolen property.
Events leading to the arrests began on January 7 when Police responded to reports of a vehicle that was stolen from a residence on 7th Avenue S.W. in Hickory. The vehicle belonged to Hillside Motors on U.S. Highway 70 S.E. in Hickory. On the same date, the stolen vehicle was located at a hotel on Fairgrove Church Road S.E. During the investigation, Officers found the suspects in a room at the hotel. Perry was initially arrested on the seventh on outstanding warrants.
Officers submitted their information to the District Attorney's office. Warrants were issued and Clark and Perry were both taken into custody without incident at about 12:15 a.m. Saturday at a restaurant on 16th Street N.E. in Hickory. During the arrests, Police found 18.2 grams of heroin, 0.01 grams of methamphetamine, and a safe containing miscellaneous documents.
Both suspects were placed in the Catawba Co. Detention Facility. Bond for Clark was set at $15,500, secured, while Perry was given a $12,500 secured bond. First appearances in District Court were scheduled today (January 13) in Newton.
