Sheriff's Officers on three counts of possession of stolen property, two misdemeanor counts of attempted breaking & entering, one misdemeanor count of breaking & entering, and attempted breaking & entering to a motor vehicle.
Howell was arrested as he attempted to break into homes and a vehicle in Lincolnton. Events leading to his arrest began as Deputies were dispatched to a break-in in progress on the 2,500 block of Salem Church Road shortly after midnight today (October 8). As one of the Deputies pulled into the driveway, he saw a white male behind a bush on the left side of the house. The suspect followed commands to walk to the patrol car where he was checked for weapons.
Residents told Officers they heard someone trying to open their back door and front door. At that point, they called 9-1-1. A check of the property revealed damage to an outbuilding door and the back door of the home. Deputies also checked a neighbor’s house where they found that a screen door had been pulled open. They also found that someone had tried to get into a minivan parked in the driveway. On the suspect's person, Officers found mail that was taken from three different mailboxes on the 2,400 through 2,600 blocks of Salem Church Road.
Following his arrest, Howell was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond. No court date is currently listed.
