Morganton Man Arrested in Theft of Vehicle from Downtown Hickory

36-year-old Travis Dean Gibbs of Maple Drive in Morganton was arrested by Hickory Police at 11 a.m. yesterday (September 10) on felony counts of larceny of a firearm, larceny, and larceny of a motor vehicle.

He was arrested in connection to an incident on September 9. At that time, Officers responded to a reported motor vehicle theft at an address on 1st Avenue N.W. in downtown Hickory. The incident occurred between 11:30 and noon. The following day, Gibbs was taken into custody without incident at a restaurant on Old Shelby Road in Vale.

Gibbs was jailed in the Catawba Co. Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond. A first appearance in District Court was scheduled today in Newton.
