22-year-old Justin Paige Shoemake of Hudson was convicted last week in Caldwell County Criminal Superior Court for felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury. Shoemake was sentenced to no less than 80 months and no more than 108 months in the North Carolina Division of Adult Correction.
The crime occurred between May 2012 and August 2012 in Caldwell County. The victim was less than a year old and sustained injuries that included 11 fractures in the leg, skull and ribs. Shoemake is the victim’s father.
Detective Stephen Raby of the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office handled the investigation and Assistant District Attorney Nancy Lee prosecuted the case. The Honorable Robert T. Sumner presided over the conviction.
Shoemake will be transported to the Division of Adult Correction for processing.
