33-year-old Charles Alexander Williams of Mountain Breeze Drive in Morganton was arrested Tuesday (August 20) by authorities in Burke County. He was charged with felony counts of kidnapping and assault inflicting serious bodily injury by strangulation. In addition, Williams was charged with misdemeanor assault on a female, interfering with emergency communications, fail to heed light or siren, driving during revocation, and fictitious or altered title, registration card or tag.
He was arrested in connection to an incident on Sunday, August 18 when Officers responded to an address on Mountain Breeze Drive. A female told Officers she had been held against her will, assaulted, and had her cell phone taken. The suspect, Charles Alexander Williams, left the scene before Deputies arrived. He was found and arrested following a traffic stop.
Williams was taken into custody shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday. He was being held in the Burke-Catawba District Confinement Facility under a total secured bond of $302,000 secured. He has upcoming District Court dates on September 9, September 16, and September 27.
The investigation is ongoing.
