Hickory Man Jailed on Multiple Drug Charges

30-year-old Thomas Matiral Izard of 7th Avenue S.W. in Hickory was arrested by Hickory Police shortly after 4 p.m. yesterday (August 12) on one felony count each of possession of a schedule II controlled substance (cocaine) and possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a schedule I controlled substance (heroin). He was also charged with misdemeanor larceny, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance, and driving while license revoked. The Catawba County Sheriff's Office also charged him with non-support.

Izard was taken into custody without incident at a residential address in Hickory. He was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $13,000 secured bond, plus a $330 cash bond on the non-support charge. A first appearance in District Court was scheduled today in Newton. An additional court date on the non-support charge is coming up on Thursday (August 15).
