51-year-old Ben Wallace Dean Robinson, Jr., who is listed as a homeless person from Hickory, was arrested by Hickory Police at two o'clock this morning (August 13) on one felony count each of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and first-degree burglary, plus one misdemeanor count of assault on a female. The warrants for his arrest were issued on July 7 of this year. He was also served bills of indictment for felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance (cocaine) and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Those warrants were issued on June 24.
The assault charges stem from an incident on July 6 when Police responded to a domestic assault at an address on 9th Street S.W. The drug charges are from a case dating back to October of 2018.
Robinson was taken into custody without incident today at a skill games establishment on 12th Avenue N.E. in Hickory. He was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $109,000 secured bond. He'll appear in District Court tomorrow in Newton.
