Three Arrested for Theft of Firearms & Vehicle in Iredell County

26-year-old Randall Scott Saxon of Midway Road in Statesville, 31-year-old Terry Justin Sherrill of Elliott Brann Drive in Hiddenite, and 22-year-old Mariah Cynthia Coley of County Line Road in Stony Point have all been arrested by Sheriff's Officers from Iredell and Alexander counties. All three were charged with felony breaking & entering and misdemeanor larceny. In addition, Sherrill and Coley were each charged with felony larceny of a firearm and felony larceny of a motor vehicle. Sherrill also faces one felony count of possession of a firearm by a felon, while Coley was charged with misdemeanor resisting, delaying, or obstructing a public officer.

Events leading to their arrests began on Saturday, July 20, when Deputies responded to the reported theft of a white 2019 Jeep Compass and larceny of a firearm from an address on Midway Road, west of Statesville. During the investigation, Detectives learned that Randall Saxon had been asked to watch the residence and take care of the animals. Detectives found that Saxon had allowed Terry Sherrill and Mariah Coley to stay at the residence for several days. Evidence was gathered indicating that Sherrill and Coley stole food and a firearm from the residence, and then left the area driving the stolen Jeep.

On July 22, the stolen firearm was recovered by the Alexander Co. Sheriff’s Office. The firearm was found in a home located on Elliott Brann Mobile Home Park Drive in Hiddenite. Alexander County Deputies learned that Sherrill and Coley had been at the residence the night before, but were no longer present as the investigation continued.

On Wednesday, July 28, Saxon was arrested and charged in Alexander County. Sherrill was arrested by Officers in Iredell County on Tuesday, July 30, and Coley was arrested in Iredell County on Tuesday, August 6. Saxon was jailed under a $3,500 secured bond. Sherrill was given a $50,000 secured bond, while bond for Coley was set at $11,500, secured. Saxon and Sherrill will both appear in District Court on August 19, while Coley is due in court on August 28, all in Iredell County. Sherrill also has an Alexander County court date on the firearms charges coming up on August 26.

Saxon has a criminal history that includes misdemeanor larceny. Sherrill's criminal history includes two counts of misdemeanor possession of marijuana, three counts of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, D.W.I. level 5, misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun, felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance, two counts of felony possession of methamphetamine, and felony possession with intent to sell or deliver meth. Coley has a criminal history that includes three counts of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor breaking & entering, and misdemeanor maintaining a vehicle, dwelling, or place to sell a controlled substance.
