56-year-old Alan Lamonte Logan of Cessna Lane in Conover has been arrested by Hickory Police on a long list of charges. He faces two felony counts of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and single felony counts of assault inflicting serious bodily injury, common law robbery, fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, and possession of cocaine. Logan was also charged with assault with a deadly weapon, hit & run with failure to stop for property damage, assault on a female, driving while license revoked, and resisting a public officer.
The arrest stemmed from a string of incidents that began on July 9, 2019 at approximately 5:30 a.m. when Logan allegedly stole a vehicle from 1370 Fairgrove Church Road SE. He then reportedly went to the Speedway convenience store in the 1200 block of Hwy 70 SW where two victims were assaulted during an attempted robbery. Police then received an alarm from the Q Express Gas Station at 525 4th Street SW in reference to another attempted robbery.
A brief vehicle chase ensued at the intersection of 5th Ave SE and 2nd St Pl SE ending in the vehicle crashing and the suspect fleeing on foot. Logan was apprehended outside of 215 8th Ave SE.
Logan was jailed yesterday (July 9) in the Catawba Co. Detention Facility with bond set at $300,000, secured. He was scheduled to make a first appearance in District Court today (July 10) in Newton.
