Amir and Sharon Rashidi turned the first shovels of dirt in a partnership with the City of Conover yesterday. The partnership will bring 45,000 square feet of retail development to the northernmost point of Conover Station. The proposed building will be designed in keeping with the traditional pre-war architecture of the site.
Amir Rashidi had previously established the United Machine & Metal Fabrication Company and his wife Sharon operates The Perfect Workout in Newton. The couple believes The Perfect Workout can increase its activity with increased floor space and readily available parking while providing an asset for the improvement of community health.
Architect Ray Campbell and builder Building Systems of Hickory have proposed a facility that will include a state-of-the-art 25,000 square foot fitness center and 19,000 square feet of office and retail space to accommodate businesses that wish to take advantage of increased activity at the site.
The parking lot will be donated back to the City of Conover and shared with all of the facilities developed in the Conover Station project. Some additional on-street parking will also be available.
