42-year-old Larry Van Clark and 42-year-old Bill Casey Hinson, both of Hickory, have been arrested by Lincoln Co. Sheriff's Officers. Clark and Hinson are accused of taking property from the Lowe’s hardware and Walmart stores in Denver, N.C. An off-duty Officer reported that one of the men loaded a generator onto the back of a pickup truck at Lowe’s and then drove across the street to Walmart.
Deputies found the truck with the generator in the Walmart parking lot at about 8:30 p.m. on June 11. As Officers approached the truck, they saw the driver making suspicious movements in the vehicle. Deputies removed the man from the truck without incident. Multiple needles, a black pouch, and digital scales were found in the glove compartment. In the pouch, Deputies found various pills and possible illegal drugs in clear plastic bags. They also found a loaded .22 caliber handgun in the truck. The truck's driver, Larry Van Clark, was arrested and charged.
A witness told Officers a male and female had left the truck and gone into the store. Officers and Walmart security found the man, Bill Casey Hinson, as he was leaving the store. The female was still inside on a bench. On Hinson's person, Officers found two Gerber knives that had been taken from the sporting goods department. Hinson was taken into custody and charged. The female was not charged.
Clark was jailed under a $43,000 secured bond, while Hinson's bond was set at $10,000, secured. No court dates are currently listed.
