A Burke County man was killed in a Wednesday night (May 15) traffic crash. According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Wednesday shortly before 9 p.m. Troopers responded to a fatal collision on U.S. 70 near Drexel.
A 2007 Chrysler Sebring was traveling east on U.S. 70 when it ran off the road to the right. The driver over-corrected, crossed the center line, ran off the road to the left, struck a culvert, and the vehicle overturned.
The driver, 41-year-old Tyronne Antoine Davis of Morganton, died at the scene. Mr. Davis was not restrained by a seat belt; alcohol impairment does not appear to be a factor.
