Early Tuesday morning, an Iredell County Sheriff's Deputy was conducting a security check at the Harmony Carwash on East Memorial Highway in Harmony, when she found a vehicle in one of the carwash stalls. The deputy saw a man passed out behind the wheel of the vehicle. While she was attempting to wake the driver up, he woke up and drove off quickly. The officer got the license plate number and learned that the registered owner of the vehicle was Joseph Linn Reid. He was wanted on an outstanding probation and parole Warrant.
The vehicle traveled west on Memorial Highway. The officer attempted to stop the truck, but the suspect would not stop. The pursuit continued on to Interstate 77 where the vehicle turned south. Stop sticks were deployed just north of Exit 55. The suspect vehicle ran over the sticks deflating three of four tires. The vehicle continued traveling south and came to a stop before exit 54.
The driver, Reid, and a passenger Andrea Ferrebee were removed from the vehicle, and taken into custody. A search of the suspect vehicle resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine, and items of drug paraphernalia. Both subjects were taken to the Iredell County Detention Center. Bond for Reid was set at $20,000 secured, plus a no bond hold for the probation warrant, Ferrebee received a $10,000 secured bond. They both have District Court dates May 31.
