31-year-old Ben A. Ostiguy of 17th Street S.W. was arrested by Hickory Police at about 1:40 Friday afternoon (July 25) on one felony count of obtaining property by false pretense. He was also charged as an habitual felon.
The charges come in connection to an incident on April 14 of this year in which Hickory Police were called to assist authorities from Iredell County. The case involved a computer that was stolen from a 39-year-old Statesville women. The computer was pawned at Hickory Pawn & Gun. It was recovered the following day.
After his arrest, Ostiguy was placed in the Catawba Co. Detention Facility under a $40,000 secured bond. He will appear in District Court on August 1.
