Hickory Man Arrested on Felony Fugitive Warrant from Florida

48-year-old Richard Allen Harvill of Queens Road in Hickory was arrested by Catawba Co. Sheriff's Officers today (April 12) on a felony warrant as a fugitive awaiting extradition to another state. He was also charged with a misdemeanor probation violation.

Harvill is wanted in Brevard County, Florida for a probation violation in connection to a July 2016 conviction for trafficking in illegal drugs (methamphetamine). The warrant for his arrest was issued in Titusville, Florida on February 14 of this year. He is on probation in North Carolina as he serves an 18-month suspended sentence following a February 2019 conviction in Catawba County for assault on a female. Harvill had been listed as an absconder from probation.

Harvill was jailed this morning in the Catawba Co. Detention Facility with bond set at $90,000, secured. A first appearance in District Court on the fugitive warrant was scheduled today in Newton with another court date on the probation violation coming up on Monday (April 15).
