Tennessee Man Jailed on Felony Warrants from Watauga County

37-year-old Justin Adam Powell of Gray, Tennessee was arrested by Hickory Police at about ten o'clock last night (February 10) on three felony counts of obtaining property by false pretense and one felony count of possession of a schedule III controlled substance. He also faces misdemeanor counts of shoplifting with concealment of goods and second-degree trespass.

He was arrested after Police responded to a shoplifting call at the Walmart store on Highway 70 S.E. During the incident, Officers found 48 dosage units of Subutex on Powell's person. He was also served with warrants from Watauga County for obtaining property by false pretense.

Powell was taken into custody without incident and placed in the Catawba Co. Detention Facility under a $25,500 secured bond. District Court dates were scheduled today and for March 22.
