18 Suspects Charged Following Lengthy Drug Investigation

A seven-month long drug investigation by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office narcotics division resulted in 18 people being indicted by the Lincoln County Grand Jury this month. They’re charged with various offenses including possession of illegal narcotics, sale and delivery of controlled substances and felonious distribution and trafficking. The investigations took place between April and November of this year and true bills of indictment were returned by the Lincoln County Grand Jury on December 11.

Below is a list of suspects arrested:

43-year-old James William Canipe, Jr., of Cranberry Trail in Lincolnton, was charged with possession of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in August 2018. He was arrested on December 17, 2018 and placed under a $10,000 secured bond.

30-year-old Haley Kristen Gantt of Jake Seagle Road in Vale is charged with trafficking methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by a felon. She was arrested on December 18, 2018 and placed in jail under a $15,000 secured bond.

43-year-old Bruce Edward Thomas, Jr. of Amy Drive in Lincolnton, is charged with possession of schedule II, possession of schedule III and possession of drug paraphernalia. Thomas was arrested on December 14, 2018 and placed under a $15,000 secured bond.

43-year-old Jason Gavitt of Lincolnton is charged with trafficking methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by a felon. He is currently being held in the North Carolina Prison System and will be served upon release.

The following individuals were indicted by the Grand Jury on existing charges and will be served with the indictment:

65-year-old Robert Deal Shuford of Davis Road in Lincolnton is charged with possession of methamphetamine.

48-year-old Steven Eugene Travis of Swanson Road in Crouse is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of cocaine.

27-year-old Jamie Wooten of Swanson Road in Crouse is charged with possession of a stolen firearm.

34-year-old William Lovingood of Lantern Ridge in Lincolnton is charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

32-year-old Melissa Clanton of Catawba Street in Lincolnton is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine.

47-year-old James Christopher Coleman of Gates Road in Lincolnton is charged with two felony counts of possession of pseudoephedrine with prior methamphetamine charges.

Deputies are still looking for the following suspects:

29-year-old Jessica Michelle Deaton of Salem Church Road in Lincolnton is charged with possession of methamphetamine.

32-year-old Kasey Lynn Earwood of Kelly Road in Mt. Holly is charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine and sell and deliver methamphetamine.

34-year-old Daniel Scott Huffman of 2nd Street Place, SW in Hickory is charged with two felony counts each of possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and sell and deliver cocaine.

43-year-old Christa Ann McClung of South Industrial Park Road in Lincolnton is charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of Schedule IV (Xanax).

46-year-old Christopher Lee Reynolds of Reepsville Road in Vale is charged with three felony counts each of possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin and sell and deliver heroin.

49-year-old Eddie Jerry Ruff, Jr. of Walker Street in Kings Mountain is charged with three felony counts each of possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine and sell and deliver methamphetamine.

26-year-old Jessie Eric Stuckey of Thornwood Lane in Stanley is charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine and sell and deliver methamphetamine.

42-year-old Phillip Wayne Thompson of Banks Drive in Cherryville is charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine and sell and deliver methamphetamine.
