A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for the Hickory Metro and surrounding counties as former Hurricane Michael continues to track quickly through Georgia and the Carolinas. Michael was downgraded to a Tropical Storm late Wednesday. The warning is in effect now until noon today, with a 100% chance for rain during that time period and the possibility of wind gusts in excess of 30 miles per hour.
Officials urge citizens to be cautious when planning travel and make efforts to protect property. Prepare for limited wind damage. The chance for rain begins to diminish after noon today, and the precipitation is expected to be out of the Hickory Metro by late afternoon.
