22-year-old Kelvis Blake Dula was arrested Tuesday (September 11) by Caldwell County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged on a True Bill of Indictment with second degree murder.
Dula was arrested following a year long investigation into the overdose death of 18-year-old Madison Leigh Workman. Her death was reported to the Sheriff’s Office on July 28, 2017 and occurred at 1703 Dulatown Road in Lenoir.
The investigation revealed that Workman consumed a lethal amount of a Fentanyl analog which was the cause of her death. According to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office, Investigators were able to determine that multiple factors and actions by Kelvis Dula resulted in Workman’s death.
Investigators with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office and Lenoir Police Department are continuing to work very closely with members of the District Attorney’s Office for the 25th Judicial District to combat the string of deaths related to fentanyl overdoses.
His bond was set at $500,000 secured. A Superior Court Date is set for November 5.
