Public's Help Sought in Case Involving Fraudulent Debit Card

On May 5 of this year, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into a case in which suspects used a counterfeit credit card to purchase a pre-paid debit card. The debit card was then used at the Family Dollar Store located on the Turnersburg Highway in Statesville.

Detective Sergeant Scott Maple of the Economic Crime Unit was able to track financial transactions made with the debit card to Murphy’s Gas Station in Mocksville. A surveillance photo taken at the gas station has been released to the public.

Anyone with information regarding the suspects should contact Iredell/Statesville Crime Stoppers at 704-662-1340 or call contact Detective Maple at 704-878-3180.
