Five local students have received scholarships awarded by the Rotary Club of Lake Hickory. The scholarships, totaling $20,000, were awarded to graduating seniors from four high schools in Catawba County.
High school award winners were chosen from applicants graduating from a high school in the county and were based on academic excellence, financial need and each student’s personal demonstration of the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.”
Scholarship recipients for 2014 are:
- Madison Hess, a graduate of Newton-Conover High School;
- Maya Revell, a graduate of Hickory High School;
- Danielle Wilson, a graduate of St. Stephen’s High School;
- Canace Silva, a graduate of Newton-Conover High School; and
- Kalia Her, a graduate of Challenger High School.
All 2014 Rotary Club of Lake Hickory scholarship recipients received certificates and were invited to join the club members for lunch during a May meeting.
