A Gold Safety Award will be presented by North Carolina Secretary of Labor Cherie Berry to the Heritage Home Group’s Hickory production facility. Each year the North Carolina Department of Labor (NCDOL) presents the Safety Award to companies that have had no fatalities during the calendar year and have maintained an incidence rate of at least 50% below the average for its particular industry.
The Hickory facility currently has over 630 artisans, craftsmen and office staff that have reached the milestone of one million labor-hours worked without a loss-time injury, a milestone they have reached in all but three of the past 11 years.
The Gold Safety Award is the culmination of national safety month in June that has also featured a blood drive amongst employees and a coloring contest among the children of employees.
In addition to the Hickory facility, tomorrow’s (June 26) NCDOL Safety Awards Banquet will honor another six Heritage Home Group locations with Gold Awards and one with a Silver Award. Previously this year, in the Thomasville and Morganton regions, nine Heritage Home Group facilities received Gold Awards and one received a Silver Award.
