24-year-old Joseph Gentry Mills of South Sunny Grove Road in Nebo is now in custody in Burke County. McDowell Co. Sheriff’s Deputies had been conducting a manhunt for Mills, who was listed as a felony parole absconder.
At approximately 9:45 yesterday morning (June 24), Deputies went to Mills’ residence to serve him with warrants. Mills fled. After a brief vehicle chase, the suspect wrecked his car and ran into the woods in the Tatertown Loop area.
Mills is on parole following a June 2013 conviction in McDowell County for felony larceny, felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance and misdemeanor assault on a female.
The McDowell Co. Sheriff’s Office expressed its appreciation to all partner agencies and to the public for their assistance in Mills’ capture.
