Hickory Man Jailed after Attempting to Use Fraudulent Credit Card at Local Bar

37-year-old Steven Chad Lawrence of 5th Street S.E. in Hickory was arrested by Hickory Police at about 11:25 last night (July 10) on one felony count of attempting to obtain property by false pretense and one misdemeanor count of defrauding an innkeeper.

He was arrested after Officers responded to Kickback Jack’s on Lenoir-Rhyne Boulevard in reference to a white male subject leaving the restaurant without paying his bill. The suspect left after attempting to use a fraudulent credit card that was declined. Police found the suspect, Steven Chad Lawrence, just north of the restaurant where he was taken into custody without incident.

Lawrence was placed in the Catawba Co. Detention Facility with bond set at $1,000, secured. A first appearance in District Court was scheduled today in Newton.
