Motorists will not be able to travel down a portion of Burkemont Avenue in Morganton today (June 13), when City crews close the road from West Union Street to Regan Street to replace water line valves and a fire hydrant in the area. A portion of New Street will also be closed while repairs happen from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
People who live in the area will still be allowed to get to their homes, but all other drivers should find an alternate route. Approximately 60 customers will be without water as the water line valves and fire hydrant are replaced. Customers on Burkemont Avenue, New Street, Camp Smith Street, Hailey Place, Warlick Court, and Pearl Street will be without water during the repairs.
