32-year-old Nathan Keith Chaney of Falls Avenue in Granite Falls was arrested by Hickory Police at about 8:20 Friday night (May 11) on felony counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a schedule II controlled substance, sale or delivery of a schedule II controlled substance (two counts), the manufacture, sale, delivery or possession of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver methamphetamine, the sale or delivery of marijuana and possession of a schedule II controlled substance, plus one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with failure to appear on one count of felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance.
Chaney was arrested following a traffic stop at Tate Boulevard S.E. and 15th Street S.E. Officers found 1.2 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The driver, Nathan Chaney, was arrested. He was also arrested on additional outstanding warrants.
Chaney was jailed in the Catawba Co. Detention Facility with bond set at $121,000, secured. A first appearance in District Court was scheduled yesterday in Newton with another court date coming up on June 13.
