The N.C. Department of Transportation has awarded a contract to replace the Beam Lumber Road Bridge over Indian Creek in Lincoln County. Clark Ledbetter Construction was awarded the $466,919 contract. The bridge washed out from severe flooding last July.
Construction is expected to begin this month. The project should be completed in late September.
The old bridge on Beam Lumber Road was a two-span bridge with an interior bent in the water. The new bridge will completely span the creek. Debris from last year’s storm knocked out the interior piles of the previous bridge, taking the rest of the bridge with it. The new, one-span bridge is designed to prevent a similar washout from occurring in the future.
