76-year-old Mary Ann Yoder and her five-year-old great-grandson, Dustin Byers, have been found safe at a truck stop in Davie County. They had been missing since Monday morning at about 5 a.m. when they were last seen at Ms. Yoder’s residence on Elk Shoals Church Loop in Stony Point.
Yoder was later spotted on surveillance video at Barkers Log Cabin Grocery in Harmony, N.C. She was then seen in Davie County around 9:30 p.m. Monday. A woman getting gas at a truck stop recognized Yoder's 1997 Toyota 4-Runner and called 9-1-1.
There was damage to the front end of the vehicle, but both Yoder and her great-grandson appeared to be in good health. The dog that had gone missing with the two was also found unharmed in the vehicle.
Ms. Yoder and the boy have been reunited with their family.
