Elderly Woman and Great-Grandson Missing from Alexander County

The N.C. Center for Missing Persons has issued a Silver Alert for a missing Alexander County woman, 76-year-old Mary Ann Yoder. She is believed to be traveling with her five-year-old great-grandson Dustin Byers and a dog. Ms. Yoder is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

Ms. Yoder is 5' 5" tall and weighs 135 pounds. She has short gray hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing blue jeans and a purple long-sleeved shirt.

The two were last seen at approximately 5 a.m. today (June 9) at Ms. Yoder’s residence, 375 Elk Shoals Church Loop in Stony Point. Authorities say she was babysitting for the boy with the intention of taking him to kindergarten this morning.

They are believed to be traveling in a gray 1997 Toyota 4-Runner with N.C. license tag BFC-9655.
