33-year-old Ronald Piper Vicente of 15th Street Drive N.E. in Hickory was arrested by Hickory Police just before 6 p.m. yesterday (April 12) on one felony count each of possession of a schedule II controlled substance and possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a schedule II controlled substance, along with misdemeanor counts of assault on a government official, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting, delaying or obstructing a public officer. He was also charged with a felony probation violation.
Vicente was arrested yesterday as Hickory Police assisted the Hickory Fire Department with traffic control in the area of 2nd Avenue S.W. and 9th Street S.W. Firefighters were battling a fire at an auto repair shop on 2nd Avenue S.W.
On the scene, Officers saw a vehicle with no N.C. registration plate displayed. During the incident, the driver, Ronald Piper Vicente, struck one Officer. In Vicente’s possession, Police found 1.6 grams of methamphetamine, 7.8 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Vicente was placed in the Catawba Co. Detention Facility with bond set at $80,000, secured. He was scheduled to make a first appearance in District Court today in Newton.
