Construction of a second speculative building in Claremont International Business Park was recently completed and is available for lease or purchase. The building is a collaborative economic development initiative developed by Catawba County, the City of Claremont and Matthews Construction to help draw relocating or expanding businesses to our area. The 48,000-square-foot building, expandable to 96,000 square feet, has been completed to shell condition which enables a manufacturer to upfit the facility’s interior to meet its specific needs.
As part of its strategic plan to drive economic growth and create jobs, the Board of Commissioners partnered on the development of this site following the success of a first speculative building in the same business park. That building, which involved the same partners, helped bring two companies to Catawba County: DAE Systems, Inc., which moved into the building this past September; and Substance, Inc., which constructed a new building in the same business park after determining that the expansion capability of the initial speculative building was not large enough to accommodate their long-term growth plans. The combined economic impact resulting from the relocation of these companies to Catawba County represents the creation of 62 new jobs and a local investment of more than $10.6 million.
The new building is being marketed nationally and internationally to manufacturers and site location experts by the Catawba County Economic Development Corporation. For more information, visit www.catawbaedc.org.
