51-year-old Craven Dale Brooks of Stone Gate Farm Road in Granite Falls was arrested by Hickory Police just after noon Monday (May 26) on one felony count of larceny of a motor vehicle.
He’s accused of stealing a truck belonging to the Williams Electric Company of Shelby. The truck was taken from a Duke Energy contractor’s yard on 9th Street Lane N.E. in Hickory. It was last seen on May 22 and discovered missing on May 25. The truck was a two-door white Ford F-150 with toolboxes and the company’s logo on both doors.
The victim suspected one of his employees, Craven Brooks, of taking the truck. Officers interviewed witnesses who said Brooks did have the truck. When they went to his residence to serve the arrest warrant, Brooks wasn’t home, but he arrived a short time later, driving the stolen truck.
Brooks was placed in the Catawba Co. Detention Facility under a $3,500 secured bond. He has since been released. A first appearance in District Court was set for today (May 28) in Hickory.
