A Denver, NC man who was charged with assaulting his girlfriend with a knife has been apprehended in Greenville, South Carolina. 30-year-old Wade Wallace Doering II of Optimist Club Road is charged with one felony count each of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and first degree kidnapping.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Detective Frank Runyon traveled to Greenville, SC Thursday (January 11) to interview the suspect and determine if he will return voluntarily or go through the extradition process.  Wade Wallace Doering was arrested by Greenville Sheriff’s Office deputies in a hotel room Thursday. Officers recovered the weapon used in the stabbing incident in Lincoln County. He is charged in South Carolina as a fugitive from justice.

On Tuesday (January 9) the victim, a 25-year-old resident of Optimist Club Road in Denver, was taken to the Sherrill’s Ford Fire Department in Catawba County seeking help for stab wounds in her foot and shoulder. Catawba County officials contacted Lincoln County authorities and told them the victim was being transported by ambulance to CHS-Lincoln.

The victim told Catawba County officers that her boyfriend, Wade Wallace Doering II, was the one who stabbed her.  Lincoln County deputies and detectives went to the residence in the 8100 block of Optimist Club Road where the incident occurred to locate Doering but he had already left the scene.

Detectives learned the suspect was picked up by an unknown male in a red pickup truck and they believe Doering was transported to Spartanburg, South Carolina. Doering was listed as an inmate in Greenville as of earlier today (January 12). No court date was listed in Lincoln County for the suspect.
