Man Charged In Break-in Case In Which Suspect Was Found In Residence

36-year-old Chad Anderson Newton of Bridges Avenue in Connelly Springs was arrested by Burke County Sheriff's Officers. He's charged with felony counts of breaking and entering and attempted larceny.

According to a news release issued by the Burke County Sheriff's office on Tuesday (December 5), on November 29, 2017, at approximately 7 p.m., a resident contacted Burke County 911 to report they had arrived home in Icard and found that someone was inside their residence. The person left the home prior to deputies arriving.

The case was assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division. Subsequent to interviewing witnesses, neighbors, and reviewing security videos from multiple locations, the suspect was identified as Chad Anderson Newton.

Newton agreed to surrender himself to deputies at the Burke County Magistrate’s Office where he was served with charges and placed in the Burke-Catawba District Confinement Facility under a $5,000 secured bond. He was scheduled to appear in District Court today (December 6).
