Jewelry Store Robbery Under Investigation

An armed robbery at a Burke County jewelry store is under investigation. On Saturday (November 11) officers with the Morganton Department of Public Safety responded to Kay Jewelers at 102-A Morganton Heights Boulevard in regards to a reported armed robbery.

Upon arrival, Officers determined that two male suspects entered the business, wearing dark clothing and bandanas covering their faces. One of the suspects was brandishing a handgun, while the display cases were smashed open with a hammer by one of the suspects.

The suspects then left the business with an undetermined amount of jewelry. They left the area in a black Honda Civic with no tag displayed. The vehicle was located a short time and distance away from the scene on Henredon Road. The investigation is continuing at this time, it is being handled by the Morganton Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division.
